the TURQUOISE Coast

Secluded beaches and Private Campsites?
Quick and Easy Weekend Getaways?
unique, beautiful and totally underrated: There is SO much more to the TURQUOISE COAST than meets the eye!
but don't worry !! From Perth to Kalbarri, we've got you covered: let the ADVENTURE BEGIN!
GinGin is an old but well connected town just inland of the Indian Ocean Drive with the unique Gravity Discovery Centre and Observatory where you can use huge telescopes to unlock the mysteries surrounding our local corner of the universe: where better to start a trip with countless star-filled nights?
Guilderton, a town at the mouth of the Moore River is also a beautiful place to spend one (or many) balmy afternoons.
The 4WD track connecting SeaBird & Ledge Point is one of our Sunset Coast highlights!! Beautiful secluded beaches filled with dolphins every morning, incredible rock formations, abandoned train carriages to explore and long nights around the campfire beneath a starry canopy... mmmmmmm... and all less than an hours drive out of Perth !!
head up to Lancelin lookout for a stunning view (ocean on one side, sand dunes on the other). Hire sand boards or take your 4WD for a spin in these iconic dunes (but make sure you copy down the help number at the entrance in case you get bogged!). Visit beautiful Nambung National Park including the Pinnacles as well as the picnic area (turn off directly opposite) for a taste of Jurien Bay Marine Park (you might even see Australian Sea Lions like we did!!).
There are countless 4WD tracks that branch off Indian Ocean Drive, where you can get lost finding beautiful spots to camp. Wedge Island is also a fave (get your mates together and rent a shack for the weekend). Stop in Cervantes for a tour of the unmissable Lobster Shack and dine on the finest (and freshest) crayfish, Western Australia has to offer! Stop in Jurien Bay and stretch out on the beach. Or, for the more extreme, book a skydive! Take a flight to 15,000ft, then jump out of the plane- for a trip you'll never forget! There's no better way to see the Sunset Coast than from the air... right?
Stop in Leeman for lunch and a snorkel in the lagoon. Greenheads is a beautiful town at the upper reach of the Jurien Bay Marine Park. You can book a tour here to swim with sealions! Head to Sandy Cape in Beekeepers Reserve for 4WD tracks that lead to old World War II bunkers, pristine beaches with snorkelling & fishing, as well as campsites galore!
Dongara is a small but cute town with great walk trails along the river and delicious pies at the bakery. Geraldton, a regional centre is a good spot to stock up on supplies, fuel and maybe even a trip to the markets on the weekend (it gets expensive quickly as you head further north). For the BEST camping experience close to Geraldton head for Coronation Beach (only $7/person per night) - although it gets a little windy, the sunset here is just phenomenal !!
The long stretches of beach give way to jagged red cliffs as you head toward Kalbarri... WOW!! Set on the estuary, this sleepy town is famous for fishing (and fish n chips!), the national park just outside (that houses the famous Natures Window) and a daily morning pelican feed. Watch for whales off the cliffs between July and September as they swim close to shore. Around Kalbarri, visit an abandoned mine site and a pink lake - random? tell me about it !! Best embrace it.
we're on the road - stay tuned, the rest of this page is coming soon
