Woylies: captive breeding program

The Woylie or Burrowing Bettong (Bettongia ogilbyi) is a critically endangered marsupial, endemic to Australia (which means it's found nowhere else). Never heard of it? Me neither - until I began volunteering at Kanyana Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre (near Perth, Western Australia).

You can visit Kanyana to see them on a nocturnal tour

Because they are super threatened, Kanyana runs a captive breeding program (in partnership with DPaW) to increase population sizes, restock wild populations (and reintroductions) and improve the species genetic diversity.

They are truly amazing animals - watch my video here to see just seven reasons why (and number one is because they are just SO ca-uteee);

This video shows my first encounter with a Woylie, and it sat on my shoessss !! :D talk about gorgeous !! i think i'm in love...
