i spent a few days down near Busselton, Western Australia banding birds on the Vasse Wonnerup. what a beautiful place to work !!
donned in waders, we set mist nets to catch waders and shorebirds for a PhD project looking at ecological connections within the entire Vasse-Wonnerup catchment system (which is pretty bloody big!!). Although we were largely unsuccessful at catching the target bird species (yes, that is the reality of field work - there are no guarantees when it comes to WILD life) :) we did catch a grass bird, reed warbler, and sighted several black-fronted dotterels (which was very exciting!) :)
here is a video, showing our mist net set up :)
