Charles Darwin Reserve

i travelled to Bush Heritage's Charles Darwin Reserve, at the northern end of the West Australian wheatbelt region to take part in ongoing climate science conducted here.
basically (the video goes into quite a bit of detail), CDR is located at the convergence point of three key bioregions or environment-types. conservation biologists are working to study the effects of climate change on these various 'regions' by examining the change in abiotic conditions (such as wind speed, temperature, rainfall, humidity, etc) over time as well as investigating (change in) species abundance and distribution over time.
in this way, we can model the effects of climate change on each region and use this to make projections for management and mitigation efforts under future climatic conditions :)
i loved getting involved with this project - i also just loved holding and banding bush birds :) if you are interested in similar projects, or getting out to see this amazing place, check out Bush Heritage website on https://www.bushheritage.org.au/
